While the world was busy battling Covid-19 (and yes, I did my part too), I was one of the many millions around the world who worked from home. This time it was on something a little different – a bilingual Cover Story, focusing on the life and journey of the bold and enterprising Ivy Wang, Chairman of Ruisen Biotechnology Co., Ltd in China.

The entire process took longer then expected, since questions and answers had to be translated from English to Mandarin and vice versa. Then there was the translated text to tackle. Writing about Ivy Wang and her brand gave new meaning to ‘lost in translation’ for me. I will admit, there were times when I would read a translated sentence 10 times, just so I could make sense out of what was said. (Thanks, Google Translate for that).

After over two months, my colleagues and I finally got the A-Ok from the client, and there was a sense of achievement in getting the final copy out. Nothing beats that feeling of seeing the published magazine ready for reading, after a whole lot of blood, sweat and tears. My favourite? The Cover Story Title – Blending Beauty And Biotech.

In a way, writing the story gave me some soft of comfort as Malaysians had to stay indoors to flatten the Coronavirus curve, going out into the world only when necessary and of course social distancing when we were in the great outdoors.

And we should continue to do so…until then click on the photo to read all about Ivy Wang.
