A year of low-key wins, quiet contemplation, and inner growth.

1. 62 books in 2025
Honestly, it’s still a little surprising that I’ve read 62 books. From literary fiction to personal growth, children’s fiction to spirituality, some changed me, others let me escape real life, while a few fell short. I’m incredibly thrilled with this little win. Big thanks to the KL Library for helping me uncover a treasure trove of books this year.
2. Went on 15 solo 10k runs
I went on 15 separate 10k runs, all by myself. No race bibs or official timings, just me, my trainers, and a whole lot of pondering. Running was my therapy.

3. Ran the 10k at the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon
On December 7, I ran the 10 km at the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon. While I didn’t reach the finish line at my personal best, it was still a memorable run—especially as it marked 10 years since my first-ever solo run.
4. Started writing stories just for myself
This year, I finally started writing stories for myself. I got past my writer’s block and began coming up with my own ideas again. No matter what the future holds for them, I’ll always feel proud of creating them.
5. Spent hours trying new recipes, thanks to YouTube
I tried and tested many YouTube recipes, mainly Indian, Malay, and Chinese dishes. Most turned out great. Some were… learning experiences. Either way, I’m excited to cook more in the future.
6. Found a natural way to lose weight
I found a way to lose weight naturally that actually works for me—and more importantly, feels sustainable. I’m looking forward to continuing this and making it work for me in 2026.
7. Watched fewer FRIENDS in 2025
Like millions of others on Planet Earth, FRIENDS is a show I turn to when life feels challenging. I watched fewer episodes this year, which feels like a reflection that I’m doing better overall. Sometimes, growth looks like not rewatching your comfort show on repeat.
8. Got better at setting boundaries
I got better at setting boundaries and putting myself first. I’m still learning, and there’s definitely room for improvement—but I’m getting there, slowly and surely.
9. Wrote a Valentine’s Day poem I’m proud of
I wrote a Valentine’s Day poem that I really like, which doesn’t happen often. I don’t always feel this way about my writing, so it definitely counts as a win for the year.

10. Made pen pals around the world
I’ve been exchanging “letters” on Slowly with people from Argentina, Austria, Germany, Turkey, Nigeria, Kenya, Scotland, and the US. I’ve met some amazing individuals, learned about different lifestyles and cultures, and exchanged experiences and laughs.
Bonus: Spiritually, I grew in small ways—by slowing down, reflecting more, and praying consistently.
Looking back, 2025 wasn’t about grand achievements or dramatic changes. It was about exploring possibilities, reflecting on life’s lessons, and making the most of what God and the Universe have gifted me.
Happy New Year, 2026.
Here’s to a wonderful year ahead.
